2 Corinthians 7:10, NIV: Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
What should have been sometimes escapes us. What could have been may cause regret. What would have been sometimes forsakes us, to blind us to what could be yet. It is unfortunate that many of us live enslaved to the past. Life is always ahead of us—what is behind us can become lifelessness. Mistakes made, heartaches, and regrets: they can be helpful teachers for our living today, but they can also be crippling if held on to.
