A Death In the Family

My blogging will be sporadic, if at all, over the next few days. My brother, who I've written about on this blog, passed away suddenly yesterday. He was 57 years old. I'm heading up to Rochester to wrap up his affairs and hopefully give strength to his partner, as he did for me when my wife Bette passed away a few years ago.

I would appreciate your prayers, especially for Mike as he transitions into his new life without my brother.

  14. Jim,
Brenda just told us today and since our internet is down these days, I didn't read this until now. Erica and I are so sorry to hear of your brother's passing. We were privaledged to meet him at your wedding and know it will be a huge loss for you and for Mike especially. God bless you all as you remember the time you had together and forge a new bond as widowers. May He grant you strength for the journey and peace for your hearts. We love you.

  15. Jim:
I am so sorry to hear about your brother and I'm feeling great empathy for you and his partner Mike. Just two weeks ago I too lost my long-time partner who was just a year younger than your brother. The loss is enormous and the emptyness can be overwhelming. Mike is lucky to have you for support because not all of us have that loving support in our lives. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you and Mike at this most difficult time.

  16. Steve W,

Thanks for posting here. I appreciate your concern. My heart really goes out to you for your loss. If you're a regular reader, you'll know I lost my wife Bette back in 2004, and I vividly remember the overwhelming sense of emptyness I really struggled with. If you work at it, and especially if you have a strong faith in God, it gradually becomes manageable. You will be in my prayers.
