That's only a slight exaggeration according to this AP report. Astonishingly, a Pentagon document has been uncovered that classifies homosexuality as a mental disorder. This is contrary to the findings of a group that is probably better qualified to make that judgement, the American Psychiatric Association. That organization dropped homosexuality as a mental disorder in 1973. In fact, they issued a press relase today asking the Pentagon to update this instruction.
Along with their "don't ask, don't tell" policy, it is painfully obvious the Pentagon don't get it.

That's interesting. I have seen some of the studies and there is nothing sufficient to substantiate that homosexuality is an imbalance of any kind. That's a huge challenge for a lot of people who believe that homosexuality is abnormal or wrong. But there are other thing we say are wrong that are not due to mental problems. Drug adictions, alcaholism, murder, and stealing are all done by "normal" individuals. In my mind the studies have'nt really told us anything about the morality of homosexuality. That is something we have to judge based on cause and effect. Does homioesxuality cause damage? Is it the best way to bear the image of God? these are questions that go beyond psychological research. they're questions I've only begun to work out and yet I've been doing it for a while now.

Should there be a «morality of homosexuality»? Why? Is sexual behavior a field crossed by a river - on this bank it's OK, on the other they're all imoral or amoral? Sorry, but I don't quite understand. Is there a morality of heterosexuality too? And it judges whom, how, to which extent, with what results? I'm quite puzzled. Why is sexual orientation - and not just behavior - still a motive for discrimination, if we all know for a long time now that human sexuality involves not only procriation (biological) but also relationship (psychological), so is different from the animal one. Further, as we've all been watching since we came to this world, men relate to women, women to women, and men to men. Where on earth can it be considered sinful if any members of any of these 3 groups enter an intimate relationship involving sex? Yes, I know, one of the groups is blessed, the others are doomed. That was «decided» at least more than 2 thousand years ago, as far as western culture is concerned. My last question is: how many eternal truths does mankind know? I know only one: God.
