The California Supreme Court has upheld the legality of Proposition 8, the constitutional amendmend that made same-sex marriage illegal in the state, by a 6-1 vote. The 18,000 couples that did marry prior to Prop 8's passage will stay legally married.
Equality California vows to return the issue to the ballot in 2010.
